Your role at a glanceWe have a fantastic opportunity for either a Nearly or Newly Qualified Actuary to join our Retirement Division in an exciting project-based role.Working in the Legal &amp; General Retirement Institutional (LGRI) Corporate Development Team you will support new corporate projects including; overseeing the analysis and project delivery, leading through governance processes and maintaining external relationships.The geographical scope of the role is unrestricted, although this role will have a significant international focus - particularly with Bermuda &amp; the US, which will entail cross-jurisdictional stakeholder management and responsibilities.This is a hybrid working opportunity based from our London Offices in Moorgate, which will give you the autonomy and freedom to work effectively either at home or in the office. What you'll be doing<ul><li>Working on the structuring and execution of external and intra-group reinsurance arrangements by providing material for governance papers. This will involve working with counterparties to negotiate structural frameworks and key terms, assessing the feasibility of reinsurance structures and taking ownership of documentation and legal negotiations.</li><li>Helping to ensure the communication and cooperation between internal LGRI teams, Group, Regulators, Reinsurers and other key external counterparties are at the required level to facilitate the execution of transactions, projects and/or structuring.</li><li>Assisting with obtaining the necessary regulatory sign-off, approvals or permissions to facilitate execution of transactions, projects and/or structuring.</li><li>Supporting with the handover of new reinsurance and intra-group transactions to LGIM and LGRI operational teams upon completion. This will involve ensuring the appropriate administration/management of agreements post execution and that they operate as intended.</li><li>Working closely with the wider Group to design intra-group transactions and consider their impacts on Group capital, tax and earnings. This will involve proactively coordinating with both internal LGRI teams and other key counterparties.</li><li>Engaging with external counterparties to test pricing and economic rationale of prospective transactions, for LGRI and/or the relevant legal entities within L&amp;G. This will involve documenting and presenting the outcome of that price exploration exercise, and proposing next steps to senior management or the relevant committee, i.e. moving towards execution, or taking some other course of action.</li><li>Working within the appropriate process, systems and controls to ensure that risks and issues are identified and escalated within LGRI, to ensure that customers are treated fairly in line with Legal &amp; General’s Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) policy.</li></ul> What we're looking for<ul><li>A Nearly/Newly Qualified Actuary.</li><li>An understanding of the relevant statutory and regulatory regimes applicable to the Group’s businesses and its corporate governance.</li><li>Ideally have practical knowledge and understanding of the reinsurance market in the UK and/or US, as well as capital management levers for an annuity player like L&amp;G.</li><li>Some knowledge of pension regulation and its application to pension buyouts and longevity insurance.</li><li>Awareness/knowledge of the annuity insurance and reinsurance business and how it interrelates with the rest of the Group.</li><li>Ability to manage, influence and effectively communicate to senior stakeholders, especially when communicating complex quantitative concepts and results to less technical individuals.</li><li>Ability to form good working relationships with key individuals within LGRI, relevant group employees and external reinsurers.</li><li>Responds to requests and manages expectations accordingly, including keeping the relevant parties informed and keeping the focus on a timely delivery and taking ownership for resolving issues.</li><li>An inquisitive and testing nature, with the ability to ask the right questions in the correct circumstances and then (if appropriate) acting on that information.</li><li>Experience of people management in a project-based environment (would be highly beneficial).</li><li>Knowledge/experience of capital modelling under Solvency II, as well as some knowledge of US RBC and Bermudan EBS (would be highly beneficial).</li></ul> BenefitsWhen you commit to Legal &amp; General, we’ll commit to you too. This is a team member position for the Actuarial Services Unit. The ASU is a team supporting actuarial pricing analytics and regulatory rate compliance for Swiss Re's Corporate Solutions North America Region various product offerings.
