L&H Pricing Actuary

Job Description

As Senior Pricing Actuary in the International Desk, he/she provides pricing and actuarial support in Central Europe markets (Germany, Netherlands, and Belgium) and ensures compliance with global processes, methods, and tools.

He/She collaborates with SCOR management and business functions locally, regionally, and globally.

Pricing and actuarial activities are mainly referred to:

  • Providing reliable, consistent, and timely pricing quotes, modeling, and assessing profitability.
  • Setting best estimate assumptions and guidelines.
  • Preparing calculation basis for customer products.
  • Monitoring pricing KPIs and ensuring compliance with processes (including reporting), methods, and tools, with a clear focus on operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and evaluate reinsurance offerings and actuarial pricing in a timely, reliable, and consistent way.
  • Develop pricing methods, tools, and local guidelines, including actuarial base assumptions in close collaboration with people in charge of approval and sign-off.
  • Monitor pricing governance and ensure compliance with pricing and underwriting governance, processes, methods, and tools.
  • Proactively interact with Market Managers, supporting clients and marketing activity, to come up with viable and innovative pricing solutions, ensuring pricing consistency between and within the different markets while assessing the competitive situation and market trends.
  • Ensure communication with pricing teams in other locations and other functions locally and globally, including the defense of cases in the escalation process to top management.
  • Contribute to innovative/strategic projects in the L&H community and knowledge sharing, contributing to SCOR visibility in the industry.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • At least 7 years of specific work experience in (re)insurance with a focus on mathematical/statistical and actuarial issues.
  • Modeling and project management skills, including Financial Solutions.
  • Knowledge about insurance distribution and client orientation in the relevant markets for the position.
  • Advanced IT skills in standard software (MS Office) and data analytics (e.g., SAS, R, Python).

Required Education:

  • University degree/master’s degree in mathematics or economics with a main focus on mathematics and statistical skills.
  • Preferably membership in an actuarial association/qualified as an actuary or equivalency from a recognized organization.
