Make your mark in Actuarial
Our Actuaries are on the front lines, quantifying risk, pricing insurance and reserving losses for AIG’s major insurance operating companies globally. We collaborate with Finance, Claims, Operations, Marketing and Risk Management, among other functions. As an AIG actuary, you will be challenged and encouraged to reach your greatest potential to help improve how we predict, manage and mitigate risk.
How you will create an impact
The successful candidate will be a qualified actuary supporting AIG Singapore as the certifying actuary and work as a member of the APAC reserving actuarial team to deliver on strategic initiatives.
- As a member of the APAC regional actuarial team, coordinate US GAAP quarterly management reporting requirements with the regional tower leads;
- Oversee and execute transformation of existing end-to-end US GAAP management reporting and local statutory reserving frameworks to unlock efficiencies and actionable insights;
- This includes development and maintenance of reserving analytics dashboards and KPIs.
- As the Certifying Actuary of AIG Singapore, provide certifying actuary support for AIG Singapore’s Board and Risk committees;
- Collaborate with the Claims, Underwriting, Finance and Business functions as the regional reserving lead for one of the key reserving portfolios and provide insights that will drive portfolio performance and growth.
- Collaborate with Finance and Pricing to provide peer review support on the budget loss ratio exercise and financial planning as the regional reserving lead for one of the key reserving portfolios.
- Provide leadership and drive a performance culture in the team.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Relevant Actuarial qualification (Fellow) with the Institute of Actuaries of Australia or equivalent body.
- Strong general insurance reserving experience, preferably in long tail lines.
- Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills with a strategic mindset.
- Ability to drive a high-performance culture in a team with a mindset to constantly improve existing processes.
- Proficiency in actuarial concepts/methodologies and ability to educate non-technical managers on technical areas that enhance their decision-making ability.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as take responsibility for individual contributions.
- Ability to forge relationships with other areas of the business.
