Description:

  • Manages a team performing actuarial analyses for a business segment and makes recommendations concerning reserving, pricing, capital, and financial modeling and/or planning.
  • Works with direct reports to identify strengths and development needs, regularly providing coaching and discussing progress on development plans and encouraging career development activities.
  • Creates an environment that is inclusive and collaborative.
  • Motivates team to perform well against key performance indicators and meet team goals/objectives.
  • Oversees multiple, complex project work streams and ensures strategic fit to objectives.
  • Oversees execution, resources, and timelines of project work.
  • Provides tactical input to project work, as necessary.
  • Presents project work questions, findings, and results to senior leaders.
  • Informs leadership of noteworthy changes and leading indicators arising from key projects for assigned areas of expertise.
  • Identifies organizational and technical opportunities for innovation that have tactical and strategic impact.
  • Telecommuting permitted up to 60%.

Qualifications:

Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a related field and 6 years of experience in the job offered or in a Manager, Actuary-related occupation.

Position requires Associateship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS/FCAS).

  • Position also requires demonstrable experience with each of the following:
  • Understanding of actuarial techniques and standards such as loss development, trends, credibility procedures, and data quality.
  • Advanced computing skills with MS Office Excel, SAS, and Python.
  • Ability to build complex actuarial models.
  • Proven actuarial experience working in ratemaking, reserving or predictive modeling functions.
  • Telecommuting permitted up to 60%.
