Senior Actuary (US Reporting)

Job Description

Provide insights regarding financial results. Support areas such as accounting, FP&A, and data management. Converse with and support the model development team in coding actuarial solutions to regulation changes. Suggest appropriate and auditable controls, reconciliations, and documentation are maintained with respect to valuation.

Utilize technology to perform job functions more efficiently and to further automate the reserving processes. Share technology solutions with other associates. Complete special assignments and projects for the department.

  • Converse with and support the model development team in coding actuarial solutions to regulation changes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • Experience in financial valuation, modeling, and cash flow analysis; assisting in maintaining actuarial modeling systems and suggesting changes to comply with new regulations; calculating US statutory reserves or Canadian GAAP reserves; preparing regulatory filings in accordance with published rules.
  • Analyzing the impact of assumption changes on relevant metrics including reserve adequacy, profitability metrics, capital requirements, and communicating results to stakeholders.
  • Supporting internal and external audits reviewing actuarial assumptions on financial reporting and valuation processes.
  • Must be a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
  • Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies.
