Pricing Actuary

Job Description

As a key member of our pricing team, you will play an essential role in shaping the future of our pricing strategies. You will collaborate closely with the Credit & Surety, Political Risk, and Inherent Defects Insurance underwriting teams to develop and implement market-leading pricing capabilities.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering best practice transactional pricing by gaining a comprehensive understanding of risk through unbiased, technical risk assessments of reinsurance contracts across all assigned markets. You will provide structural advice and innovative ideas to support the underwriting process.

Your contributions will be critical in helping SCOR achieve its long-term goals and maintain its position as a leader in the reinsurance industry. By leveraging your expertise and innovative approach, you will help drive our pricing strategies forward and ensure that we continue to meet and exceed our profit targets.

Responsibilities

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Deliver Best Practice Transactional Pricing: Secure a thorough understanding of risk through unbiased, technical risk assessment of reinsurance contracts in all assigned markets. Provide structural advice, technical support, and contribute innovative ideas to support underwriting.
  • Achieve Pricing Excellence: Strengthen pricing practices by continuously enhancing the pricing methodology for Credit & Surety, Political Risk, and Inherent Defects Insurance.
  • Contribute to Client Success: Contribute to client meetings with pricing analytics insights and represent SCOR at industry events. Collaborate with Underwriting on the client engagement roadmap and implement strategies to drive business impact.
  • Set clear focus throughout the year: In March, June, and October to December, concentrate exclusively on renewals. During other periods, dedicate time to project work, prioritizing key initiatives. Embrace an agile mindset by limiting work in progress and prioritizing tasks based on business value.

Qualifications

Required experience & competencies

  • Reinsurance Pricing Experience: At least three years of pricing activities at a global reinsurer, with experience across various lines of business. Ideally, experience in relevant lines such as Credit & Surety, Political Risk, and Inherent Defects Insurance.
  • Advanced Technical Skills: Profound expertise in statistical computing languages like Python or R, along with solid programming experience. Proven ability to apply machine learning models, ideally within actuarial contexts.
  • Effective Communication: Clear communicator with the ability to convey complex methods, analyses, and ideas effectively to a broad variety of stakeholders.
  • Resilience and Positive Attitude: Ability to withstand pressure and complete tasks within deadlines, maintaining a positive attitude to address challenges.
  • Professional Qualifications: Qualified actuary in a globally recognized actuarial body.
  • Global Exposure: Ideally, experience working in multiple geographies.

Required Education

Master's Degree or PhD in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics.
