Swiss Re is hiring a
Lead Actuary (Engineering)
About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team of Pricing Actuaries as the Lead Actuary Engineering. You will be part of the Actuarial Portfolio Management (APM) unit and will report to the APM Head of Property & Specialty (P&S).
The successful candidate will lead a team of actuaries situated in our central European locations and Bangalore. You and your team are primarily responsible for maintaining actuarial pricing models and developing portfolio management strategies for the Engineering underwriting portfolio, which is a key portfolio for Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Pricing model development: Lead the development and calibration of pricing models and parameters corresponding to Engineering products to accurately reflect the latest experience, portfolio mix, Terms & Conditions, and trends. Work with our technology teams to implement these models and parameters in underwriting tools to aid decision-making.
Team management and APM P&S leadership: Manage a diverse team of actuaries and portfolio experts, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback. As a member of the APM P&S leadership team, you will actively contribute to the leadership, stakeholder management, and future strategy of P&S portfolios.
Analytics-driven decision making: Develop your own view on portfolio profitability reflecting the latest market dynamics, premium rates, and loss experience.
Portfolio management discipline: Drive portfolio management discipline across Engineering portfolios, ensuring that portfolios have a long-term strategy, detailed business plan, monitoring framework, and capability that responds to the execution of actions, pricing data, market trends, and competitor behavior. Collaborate with the Head of APM P&S to ensure that the application of these principles aligns with other P&S portfolios.
About You
You are likely to be an Actuary with deep Commercial Insurance experience, ideally in the Engineering line of business, bringing a combination of industry knowledge, business insight, and actuarial technical skills.
People leadership is a significant part of the role; therefore, prior exposure or inclination towards it is crucial as you will be leading an international team of actuaries.
Thought leadership: You can lead initiatives to turn our vision into reality, advocating for driving change.
Business fluency in English is required. Proficiency in other languages is welcome but not mandatory.
You communicate clearly and simply, even when dealing with complicated problems and ideas, both orally and in writing.
