About the Team

The L&H Valuation & Analysis Central Europe and Israel Team is a dynamic and passionate team, made up of around 30 people located in London, Zurich and Bangalore. We are responsible for the quality of the financial results communicated to a wide range of stakeholders. We are dedicated to driving continuous improvement in our processes and influencing practices on a global level.

About the Role

We are looking for a hardworking and motivated individual to join the L&H Valuation & Analysis team as an Actuarial Intern. In this role, you will help improve the quality of the balance sheet. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a successful team across a varied reinsurance business.

The scope of the role includes involvement in modelling, reserving, and business analysis for one or multiple key markets and products. Initially, it will involve supporting other team members. Over time, it is expected to include a reasonable degree of responsibilities and opportunities for personal growth – particularly in terms of technical actuarial content.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the reporting actuaries by delivering quality reserve and income statement submissions for internal and external reporting across different bases (IFRS17, local and Swiss statutory, etc.)
  • Developing a sound understanding of the underlying risks on the balance sheet and using this knowledge to facilitate proactive management of the in-force portfolio.
  • Developing creative and pragmatic solutions to continuously improve our processes.
  • Improving the quality of the modelling by validating cedent data and selecting appropriate assumptions.
  • Supporting experience studies, including understanding and processing the data inputs, investigating the movements in the assumptions, and communicating results.

About You

You've got strong interpersonal skills and you're curious – always asking questions and searching for solutions. You are self-motivated and can communicate your thoughts clearly and effectively.

We are also looking for individuals who have:

  • University degree in Mathematics or Actuarial Science (or other related discipline)
  • Progress made towards the actuarial qualification
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to manage your own workload and prioritize accordingly
  • Ability to drive your own projects and engage the appropriate stakeholders
  • Strong desire for continuous growth and development
  • Good skills with Excel
