Life Pricing Actuary (m/f/d)

In the Client Pricing unit, we take care of Life and Health insurance in the diverse, exciting, and demanding markets of Continental Europe and Israel. The core tasks of the Client Pricing unit include pricing and risk management for reinsurance contracts, biometric studies, data analytics, and monitoring. The Client Pricing unit ensures a holistic, client-focused team approach together with the Client Management team to effectively support the acquisition and maintenance of reinsurance business in the region.

Achieving these goals requires a close cooperation between the Client Pricing unit and a wide range of internal departments (Centres of Competence, Valuation, Accounting, etc.). We are looking for a highly qualified and motivated candidate to work as a Life Pricing Actuary with a special focus on Germany and/or the Netherlands/Belgium.

Your Job

  • Collaborate with the Client Management team in a proactive and goal-oriented way, especially by supporting the acquisition of new, profitable business and by managing the in-force.
  • Structure and price reinsurance treaties by using actuarial modelling software.
  • Advise on possible solutions to optimise reinsurance for both Munich Re and our clients.
  • Derive and update pricing assumptions, if possible, based on biometric studies.
  • Provide actuarial support for our clients.
  • Participate in agile projects and initiatives supporting our business strategy.
  • Support product development in close cooperation with the Business Development unit.
  • Support monitoring, accounting, valuation of new and existing business, including management of portfolio data in close cooperation with the Accounting unit, the Valuation unit, and the Centres of Competence.
  • Analyse current developments in Life insurance markets and their implications for Munich Re and our cedents.
  • Execute risk management processes.

Your Profile

  • University degree in statistics, mathematics, or actuarial sciences with excellent results.
  • Qualified actuary, or as a young professional or graduate: willingness to become an actuary.
  • Work experience in primary insurance and/or reinsurance is a plus.
  • Experience with actuarial modelling software such as AXIS, Prophet, or similar, and knowledge of software such as R is advantageous.
  • High degree of entrepreneurial attitude, customer and team orientation, motivation, and willingness to take over responsibility.
  • Strong analytic and conceptual thinking combined with a thorough and systematic work approach.
  • Very good command of English and German (written and spoken).
