Actuarial Intern

Job Summary

We're looking for someone who's motivated and detail-oriented, with a real interest in learning about actuarial science, catastrophe modeling, and insurance. Our portfolio includes a variety of partners in the actuarial space, and we're always working on analyses to improve our processes and add value to our partners' operations.

As our portfolio grows, we're aiming to make our analyses even more sophisticated and impactful. That's where you come in! We're searching for an intern who's excited to learn our current data processes and help us modernize them.

You'll get the chance to work with different database systems, contribute creatively to updated analyses, and come up with innovative visualization techniques to support our partners.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and run current periodic data processes.
  • Collaborate with actuaries to streamline and update existing data processing.
  • Update and adapt data visualizations for internal and sharing purposes.
  • Structure data for specific purposes, e.g., pricing, catastrophe modelling.
  • Participate in catastrophe modelling and pricing analyses.
  • Participate in discussions with internal partners.

Required experience & competencies

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Organized and motivated.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong data management and programming skills.
  • Proficiency in SQL, preferably with hands-on experience in university or work.

Required Education

Preferred candidates should have completed at least 3 years of undergraduate education or be pursuing a graduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or Economics.

SCOR employees work 3 days per week in an office with the flexibility to work 2 days per week remotely.

Candidates must have valid authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Pay Range: $30.00 - $32.00 hourly rate. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role, and performance.
