Statutory Reporting Actuary

About the Role:

In the SRE and Projects team, we work on a variety of initiatives, delivering Swiss Re-wide improvements to our valuation processes. We focus on EMEA projects that enhance the accuracy and quality of the balance sheet, helping valuation actuaries perform their jobs more effectively. This role involves overseeing consolidation and regulatory work around the SRE legal entities.

  • Looking after the consolidation of Statutory reserves for multiple regions for Life and Health business
  • Working closely with actuarial colleagues and other teams to identify opportunities for improvements with PAD or valuation methodologies
  • Making actuarial and business recommendations based on professional judgment and experience
  • Performing calculations to derive the valuation interest rate and statutory margins
  • Delivering on annual regulatory and appointed actuary reports
  • Assisting in ad-hoc tasks in the team, including IGR restructuring and process improvements
  • Collaborating with other business functions, including Finance, Products, and reporting teams
  • Providing support to more junior members of the team

About the Team:

The SRE and Projects team is part of L&H Actuarial Management EMEA, consisting of members based in London and Bangalore. We are a dedicated group of Project Actuaries passionate about delivering actuarial projects that add value for our colleagues across the EMEA business.

About You:

  • Near Qualified / Newly qualified Actuary
  • Highly motivated professional with good progress towards actuarial fellowship exams
  • 6+ years of experience in reinsurance, life, or health insurance products is ideal
  • Familiarity with a range of Life & Health insurance products and reinsurance structures in the UK or other European markets
  • Strong Excel skills and expertise in actuarial or statistical software (e.g. RAFM, R) preferred
  • Good project management skills and a can-do attitude, considering your own and others' needs in a fast-paced environment
  • An independent thinker who can tackle ambiguous problems and propose effective solutions
  • Team-oriented, willing to support the team to meet changing priorities and requirements
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, capable of discussing complex technical matters
  • Curiosity and a problem-solving approach, with a track record of improving processes
  • Ability to work with teams across various locations
