Corporate VP (Lead Actuarial Data Engineer/Architect)

Location Designation: Fully Remote

What You'll Do:

  • Leadership & Strategy: Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the data engineering team. Develop and implement the overall data architecture to support the company's business goals.
  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient ETL processes and data pipelines. Ensure data is processed and available for analysis and reporting.
  • AWS Cloud Management: Oversee the automation of data processes within the AWS cloud environment. Utilize services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and Redshift for data storage and processing.
  • Data Warehousing: Manage and optimize data warehousing solutions, particularly in Redshift. Ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, and manipulation.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and guide the data engineering team, including Senior Data Engineers, Data Analysts, BI Developers, and other team members. Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Data Analysts, BI Developers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver data solutions that support business needs.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Implement and enforce data governance practices. Ensure data integrity, quality, and security across all data processes.
  • Project Management: Oversee project timelines, resources, and deliverables. Ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
  • Innovation & Improvement: Stay current with industry trends and advancements in data engineering and cloud technologies. Continuously seek opportunities to improve data processes and infrastructure.

What You'll Bring:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in data engineering or related fields, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced proficiency in Python for data processing and automation.
    • Extensive experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and Redshift.
    • Strong expertise in designing and managing ETL processes and data pipelines.
    • Hands-on experience with data warehousing solutions, particularly Redshift.
    • Knowledge of Docker for containerized applications.
    • Experience with version control systems, specifically GitHub.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers. Strong project management skills and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to analyze complex data requirements and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master's degree in computer science or a related field.
    • Professional certifications in AWS or data engineering.
    • Experience in the finance or insurance sectors.
    • CFA Charter holder, FSA, ASA or 5+ years of experience working with financial and actuarial models.

Pay Transparency: Salary Range: $155,000-$267,500 Overtime eligible: Exempt Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes Sales bonus eligible: No Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
