About the Role
As a pricing actuary in Swiss Re's Life & Health Business for Hong Kong & Taiwan, you will undertake pricing work for biometric risk business, mainly focusing on mortality, critical illness, and medical reimbursement portfolio in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
This involves providing timely and technically sound pricing support for existing treaties, product development, and new business tenders.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform experience studies and pricing reviews on existing medical reimbursement treaties
- Conduct treaties review and perform assumption setting for biometric risk business
- Price new mortality, critical illness and medical reimbursement products for product development discussions and new business tenders
- Maintain documentation of all pricing work, and ensure compliance with costing guidelines and standards
- Drive the process for referral of large quotes to costing reviewers regionally or globally
- Liaise with client managers, underwriters and claims colleagues on treaty pricing review and product development matters
- Liaise with external clients on treaty pricing review and product development matters
- Assist the establishment and review of appropriate pricing bases, methodology and tools
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and global actuarial practices and trends
- Monitor local market intelligence, trends and developments in the biometric risk business
About the Team
As part of L&H Hong Kong & Taiwan Team, the successful candidate will be both an individual and team contributor.
The L&H pricing team of Hong Kong & Taiwan currently consists of 6 professionals based in Hong Kong. The team works closely with client managers, underwriting and claims team to support the business development for Hong Kong and Taiwan markets.

About You
- At least 5 years of direct or reinsurance experience in pricing and experience studies, ideally within the protection product space and with experience from medical reimbursement business
- Making good progress towards actuarial qualification
- Strong knowledge on biometric risk business in Hong Kong will be an advantage
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
- Good communication, negotiation, and teamwork skills
- Familiarity with computer tools such as SAS, with experience and interest in actuarial analytics
- An aptitude for languages would be an advantage
