The Risk & Insurance team at DoorDash is responsible for all things corporate insurance at the company. We are a rapidly growing and exciting function that helps DoorDash manage risk and safety with a close lens on the company's bottom line. We are looking for forward thinkers who are excited to help build out this team and match our ambitious cross-functional partners at DoorDash.

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate Associate Actuary - Predictive Analytics who will be a member of DoorDash’s Corporate Risk & Insurance function within the Finance & Strategy team. As one of the newest members of Corporate Risk & Insurance, you’ll have the rare opportunity to improve our data capabilities and seek data-driven insights to inform our insurance risk management decisions.

This includes advising operational strategy and enabling optimal structuring of insurance programs. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager, Actuary.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Lead developing and analyzing key claims and telematics metrics that drive business decisions on DoorDash’s insurance strategies.
  • Own and develop an insurance risk segmentation framework using statistical/predictive analytics.
  • Have opportunities to help negotiate in the insurance renewal process using identified risk segmentation opportunities to achieve an efficient insurance cost structure.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate analytical results into actionable product initiatives that will help drive down insurance costs.

We’re excited about you because you have…

  • Flexibility, resourcefulness, optimism, grit, and a growth mindset.
  • 4-7+ years of experience in actuarial pricing, claims analytics, or R&D at insurance, InsurTech, or gig economy companies.
  • Strong SQL and Python/R skills are a must.
  • Strong communication skills. Experience with presenting to senior leadership is a plus.
  • Work experience in the Property & Casualty Insurance industry is a must.
  • Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tools is a plus.

Compensation

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants.

The base pay for this position ranges from $113,600—$167,000 USD.
