Position summary:
Swiss Re is seeking an Associate Actuarial Analyst to join its actuarial team in Asia to be based in Hong Kong or Singapore.
The position will be responsible for the preparation of group reserving analysis and local branch statutory reports under the supervision of the Head of P&C Reserving Asia and/or the relevant local appointed actuary.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Supports quarterly review of P&C loss reserves for Swiss Re's Asian Operations
- Preparation of quarterly reserve committee materials
- Provide support to the Head of Actuarial & Reserving Asia for actuarial matters as necessary
- Provide support to the Appointed Actuary for each branch as required (e.g. Liability Valuation Reports, ICAAP, stress testing)
- Support other areas of the company including Finance and Planning (including IFRS4 and IFRS17 Insurance accounting)
- Support discussions with underwriting in relation to reserving feedback loops and other product analysis
- Develop and maintain relationships with local actuarial and industry associations
- Work with regulators and internal/external auditors on routine and special matters
- Work on other projects as assigned including participating in internal underwriting audits
Position Requirements:
- Up to 5 years' experience in a Property & Casualty environment (insurance/reinsurance). New Graduates will be considered.
- University degree in actuarial science or related field (mathematics or finance)
- Very good understanding of actuarial, accounting, information systems and investments.
- Independent self-starter
- Strong practical capabilities in Microsoft Office and other business software applications.
- Accomplished interpersonal and communication skills – demonstrates a clear and articulate standard of written and verbal communication in a complex environment
- Proactive in seeking out and providing information
- Actively looks to add value and take on additional responsibility
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks accordingly
Preferred Skills:
- Actuarial valuation and reporting experience
- Knowledge of statutory and regulatory environments in Singapore. Knowledge of other Asian environments would be viewed favourably
- Asian language skills considered an advantage
