Actuary (Fin & Risk Mgmt L&H)

This Transformation Program will enable L&H Valuation to achieve robust, timely Financial Reporting in a well-controlled, effective and efficient manner. It will enable delivery of timely business and financial insights and through automation of processes help free up resources to focus on results analysis and portfolio steering activities.

The LHVT Regional Representative is an essential role to ensure the active engagement of regional Valuation teams in the LHVT project. They will lead the coordination within their region to ensure:

  • Review of design specifications for each topic, to ensure the experience of the regional team is considered.
  • Oversight of the regional review of testing so that the developments are accepted by the region and that the evidencing is agreed to be ready for audit review.
  • That developments meet the needs of the regional end users, helping to increase acceptance of new processes and tools in BAU work.
  • Engagement with changes to processes and working practices so that the Valuation team achieves the optimal benefits in BAU from these improvements.

The developments will help improve many aspects of the Valuation landscape including data quality, the efficiency of valuation processes and the tools to review and analyse results. The Regional Representatives will work closely with the LHVT workstream Leads, representing the regional team by ensuring the regional review and feedback is provided on time, with an expectation that material progress is achieved each quarter during the 3 year Life & Health Valuation Transformation project.

Main activities and responsibilities:

  • Oversee coordination between the LHVT project team and the regional Valuation teams, identifying key regional experts to involve on each topic or work stage.
  • Oversee the review and provision of regional feedback into the Business Requirement Documents for each topic area.
  • Attend the regular LHVT Stakeholder Advisory Board meetings where the workstream topics will be discussed together with representatives from the other functions.
  • Be a strong voice representing the regional Valuation teams, including by advising the Heads of the LHVT program and L&H Valuation on views of the developments and level of acceptance by the teams.
  • Ensure the final implementation considers the needs of end users in the BAU Valuation team.
  • Ensure effective Change Management is performed to create clarity, unity and joint movement as well as acceptance of change.
  • Support the specification and execution of the testing plan, considering requirements from both Local and Group IFRS perspectives.
  • Foster close collaboration between the project workstream and with initiatives outside the program.
  • Effectively collaborate closely with the Lead Architect L&H Valuation and Head LH Valuation Transformation to ensure successful delivery of the transformation project.

Key Performance Measures:

  • Deliver input and feedback according to agreed project deadlines.
  • Support the LHVT project to deliver on Key Performance Indicators, Objectives and Key Results.
  • Deliver on process and cultural change required.
  • Actively monitor team morale and people health.

Position Requirements:

  • Successful track record in managing valuation process changes.
  • Strong leader with empathy, inspiring people with diverse backgrounds to rally around common goals.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to explore a range of options, identify optimal paths and inspire commitment of team members to final choices.
  • Steadfastness to voice unpopular facts and opinions and comfort in challenging stakeholders in a constructive manner.
  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders at many levels, overcoming siloed interests towards a common goal.
  • Knowledge of valuation and financial reporting processes and systems under IFRS considered essential.
  • L&H background essential.
