Actuarial Analyst (P&C)
Job Purpose
- Carry out actuarial tasks related to premium calculation in automobile insurance.
- Apply actuarial techniques to various analyses in automobile insurance to contribute to the expansion of sales, profitability, and target achievement.
- Collaborate with other team members to enhance the skills and knowledge related to actuarial tasks in the automotive actuarial department.
Responsibilities
1. Premium Calculation Tasks
- Support various analyses, simulations, and explanations of results for determining automobile insurance premium rates.
2. Analytical Tasks
- Conduct regular analyses and continuously engage in the product design and rate verification processes.
- Carry out detailed individual analyses as required and provide the results to relevant departments to support product design, underwriting rule formulation, and various policy processes.
- Work with the business analytics team and underwriting team to monitor insurance risk factors and support portfolio management.
3. Regulatory-Related Tasks
- Closely collaborate with the regulatory application team to support the preparation of actuarial-related application documents and negotiations with the Financial Services Agency.
4. Financial Tasks
- Work closely with the product team to support the planning of profitability and growth targets for automobile insurance and monitor progress.
- Verify the presence or absence of changes in accounting practices and their impacts.
5. Skills Development
- Continuously acquire new techniques and the latest knowledge to improve the skills of oneself and team members.
- Stay informed about actuarial practices outside of automobile insurance to apply them to automotive actuarial tasks.
- Commit earnestly to self-improvement and deliver results.

Required Skills & Experience
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (preferably in a scientific or mathematical field, but not required).
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities/Certifications/Licenses
Certifications
- Preferably has passed some subjects of the Japan Society of Actuaries exams or is willing to pursue them.
Skills
- Analytical and quantitative skills (experience with various analytical software is desirable).

Work Experience
- Experience in actuarial science or a related field is desirable.
