Position: Actuarial Manager – London, 12m FTC

The Opportunity

We have a 12 month FTC for an Actuarial Manager to provide leadership and support in the operational management of the Strategy, Performance and Planning function. This role involves overseeing key actuarial processes, collaborating with senior stakeholders, and driving best practice data analytics within the organisation.

Your new role:

  • Develop and manage a work plan aligning with broader business strategy.
  • Ensure timely delivery of actuarial valuation and associated deliverables with clear communication to stakeholders.
  • Lead pricing reviews and identify business opportunities through ongoing monitoring.
  • Manage the complete valuation process and ensure compliance with internal governance standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and insights to support business decisions.
  • Manage team to deliver high-quality service within specified levels.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to improve customer focus.
  • Participate in business meetings to understand and support business requirements.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate systems and procedures for accurate data analysis.
  • Support in advising on strategic issues and transformation processes.
  • Significant relevant work experience in general insurance, actuarial services, and corporate or consulting environments.

About you:

  • Practical experience in the general insurance industry as the head of department or equivalent, overseeing the Actuarial function in an insurance company.
  • Experience in working with large data sets and proficiency in SAS, SQL, and VBA.
  • Extensive experience in the insurance industry involving data analysis, systems, and projects.
  • Experience in leading operational processes and providing technical analysis insights.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, along with clear written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with actuarial services and various types of insurance.
