Allianz Commercial has an extensive range of risks covered when it comes to protecting businesses. We are seeking an Actuarial Expert (m/f/d) based in Munich to join our short-tailed lines reserving team.
Your Team
The short tail reserving team is responsible for ensuring adequate levels of loss provisions for the relevant lines of business. We perform an in-depth analysis across different markets and regions. Our opinion is used across the company for various decision-making processes.
The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the Head of Short Tail Lines Reserving, you will be responsible for the actuarial analysis as well as managing tasks and projects independently in your area of responsibility. This will include preparation of input data, update of actuarial models, and documentation of assumptions, methods, and results.
Moreover, you will be directly involved in discussions with key stakeholders and be responsible for maintaining a strong link to related functions within CFO Actuarial teams and Group Actuarial Planning and Controlling (GAPC).
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
- Support the team leader to actively steer actuarial results for your assigned Lines of Business (LoB) with a forward-looking view to bring transparency for clear understanding of the quarterly and annual Actuarial P&L impacts and trends.
- Support actuaries, independent consultants, and auditors in a timely and accurate manner.
- Execute advanced actuarial analysis to understand profitability, trends, underlying patterns, update loss provisions, including documentation, communication, and explanation of results.
- Prepare actuarial reports with sufficient peer review. Present results of reserves review in a professional, clear, and concise manner.
- Promote close collaboration and interaction with various business areas to foster mutual understanding of how business developments impact actuarial drivers in the financials.
- Drive innovation and efficiency in processes, particularly to improve annual reserve review quality and control.
- Peer review work from other team members and/or ask for peer review of your own work. Actively mentor and provide guidance to junior team members.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- University degree in a quantitative discipline required.
- Progress towards recognized actuarial qualification from a leading actuarial organization (Associateship).
- 5 to 7 years of experience in actuarial reserving or pricing experience.
- Excellent actuarial knowledge (data, claims, underwriting, reinsurance, pricing) as well as finance and insurance know-how.
- Excellent quantitative financial and risk modeling skills (i.e. data analysis).
- Advanced computer skills, particularly MS Office and ResQ.
- Skills in R programming and/or Python programming would be very beneficial.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with an ability to influence others without authority.
- Excellent intercultural skills with an ability to work in an international and remote working environment.
- Intellectual curiosity in order to keep abreast of leading market practice and drive innovation.
- Fluent English skills required.
