Our Actuarial & Consulting Team
As part of this role you’ll be working in Isio’s Actuarial & Consulting team – over 400 pensions consultants and actuaries advising a diverse range of clients and stakeholders across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.
We advise on everything from helping trustees and sponsors to manage their defined benefit plans, running large scale communications projects and implementing alternative reward and pension provision. The range of work we get involved with is vast and there’ll be opportunities for you to gain lots of great, new experiences and put your skills to the test.
This particular role will be as part of theRisk Settlementteam. This team of over 25 colleagues offers full insurance de-risking services for Trustees and Sponsors of Defined Benefit pension schemes and also provides services directly to insurers.
This is a key strategic area for Isio. Building on our current successes and enhancing our propositions to meet evolving market needs, we anticipate significant growth in this sector over the coming years.
What’s the role?
We ‘re looking for experienced consultants either part or fully qualified actuaries with relevant risk settlement experience to help continue to grow this specialist team.
As a challenger in the industry, we are looking for individuals withexcellent pensions consulting and technical skills, acommercial outlookand anentrepreneurial mindset.
Day to day, you will be:
- Supporting in thedelivery of advice to clients– this may include managing key client projects directly, and/or supporting our partners and directors to deliver to our clients.
- As well as being involved in the technical aspects of projects, this will also involve working with andbuilding relationships with clientsdirectly,working as part of a teamanddeveloping those around you.
- Assisting in thedevelopment of new business, both with existing and new clients.
- Technical aspects of this role would include:
- Understanding the pensions insurance industry and building relationships with insurers.
- Helping develop a client’s strategy to approach the insurance market.
- Preparing a scheme to approach insurers.
- Providing client advice on the right transaction to meet their objectives.
- Supporting clients in post-transaction processes through to wind-up.
- As you progress, there will be the opportunity to develop your technical expertise and consulting skills tolead the delivery of broking projectsfor our clients.
As part of your role, there will be a wide range of opportunities to get involved in a lot of different areas of de-risking consulting and have access to a wide range of clients in the Insurance Team, working alongside other specialist teams to get the best outcome.
Where is the role?
Our Risk Settlement team are based across many of our UK offices. We can therefore offer a range of locations for you to choose from – including Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Croydon, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester and Reading.
We work on a hybrid basis, offering the opportunity for colleagues to split their time between working in the office and at home.

Key skills and experience
We’re looking for new colleagues with the following skills and expertise – but, please do apply if you don’t hit every requirement and still think you would be great for the role. Our business is better with a diverse range of experience, so we’ll consider each application on its own merits.
- Experience–A part or fully qualified actuary FFA/FIA with relevant risk settlement industry experience.
- Technical expert– understanding the pensions insurance industry, and being able to use this to help develop the right strategy and support the execution of transactions to provide good outcomes for clients.
- A great communicator– someone who can explain complex problems in a simple way to help everyone around the table understand.
- Enthusiasm and motivation- a great deal of desire to solving problems and delivering excellent advice.
- Excellent project management and client delivery skills– especially when balancing multiple demands.
- A great team worker– this will either be as part of a team, or managing a team, depending on your experience.
- Commercial skills– to help us develop our business and look for new opportunities.
