VP Marketing Actuary

Job Summary:

Focused on developing mutually beneficial client relationships with an emphasis on client needs and business acquisition strategies in the traditional individual life mortality space, longevity, and financial solutions for pension risk transfer, annuities, and/or life.

This position involves client-facing account ownership responsibilities, understanding relevant issues affecting portfolio performance, and being knowledgeable about the uses of reinsurance to solve a wide range of client company challenges.

This role will collaborate with a wide range of internal Key Business Partners to develop and refine client solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead client account relationships and develop account strategies for business growth.
  • Work closely with key clients to understand their needs and build mutually beneficial arrangements.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial and Innovation teams to support New Business Acquisition goals.
  • Build, maintain, and improve professional relationships with key decision makers through deal negotiations, planned client visits, and phone meetings.
  • Participate in the marketing of Traditional Life mortality solutions, Financial reinsurance solutions, Longevity solutions, and Innovation products in accordance with the organization's growth goals.
  • Gain expertise by participating in relevant industry committees and engaging at key industry conferences.
  • Solicit input from clients regarding emerging industry trends and competitive intelligence.
  • Contribute to organizational thought leadership by writing for client newsletters and industry publications.
  • Work with pricing actuaries to develop a commercial best-estimate assumption set by communicating unique deal circumstances.
  • Support the Pricing Team in applying pricing policies and techniques to new business opportunities.
  • Lead Pricing Committee presentations by providing context and background for deals.
  • Manage Business Review for all potential deals and present with emphasis on understanding and communicating rationale.
  • Act as client expert in facilitating effective solution design with other SCOR subject matter experts.
  • Identify client- or competition-based "red flags" and develop plans to address them.
  • Manage ongoing or historical technical or business issues with SCOR customers.
  • Focus on Continuous Improvement and share learnings.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of insurance/reinsurance experience in actuarial and business positions of increasing responsibility.
  • A thorough technical grounding in insurance pricing and the needs of direct life insurance writers.
  • 3 years of experience in making business decisions and demonstrating leadership.
  • Effective multi-tasker with the ability to prioritize and manage high-stakes transactions.
  • Effective communicator in written and oral communications, including presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Ability to be a team player and assist team members to achieve organizational goals.
  • Ability to act as Team Leader with respect to client team regional responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and develop colleagues in reinsurance relationship management.
  • Takes accountability for role and results.
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related field.

FCIA and/or FSA designation required.
