The Opportunity

The Corporate Reserving Actuarial Intern will work closely with other Actuarial Associates and Actuaries within their respective teams, as well as with other key individuals across the department. The interns will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of reinsurance and the various functions of a reserving department.

This internship is being offered in Princeton, NJ or New York City, NY.

Responsibilities:

  • Review segment analysis, technical checks of actuarial analyses, large loss research, loss development pattern selections.
  • Support the development of quarterly monitoring and presentations.
  • Work closely with an Actuary on a project including review segment analysis and technical checks.
  • Deliver an end-of-internship presentation to the department.

Job Requirements:

  • Open to all undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Preferred majors: Actuarial Science, Data Science/Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, Risk Management, Statistics. Also accepting: Accounting, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Law, Physics or any other STEM major.
  • Successful completion of one CAS/SOA exam is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills – spoken & written, formal/informal presentation.
  • Currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Risk Management, or equivalent program – in healthy academic standing.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities – clear-thinking, curiosity, integrity, and drive.
  • Enthusiasm about learning new knowledge and working in the reinsurance industry.
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel skills.

The NYC pay has a base range of $22.00-$33.00 per hour. The hourly estimate displayed represents the typical hourly range for candidates hired in this position in NYC.
