Senior Actuary (Pricing)

The opportunity:

We are a team of 32 that provide actuarial support to the International organisation, covering multiple geographical locations. The team is mainly based in London, but can operate remotely or from other offices. We interact with almost all of the other departments as well as colleagues in the US and in other worldwide locations. We travel as necessary, particularly for office visits and conferences.

What you’ll be doing:

Contribute significantly to all aspects of the Markel International Actuarial team that relate to pricing and profitability, including large account pricing, pricing tool validation, and internal and regulatory pricing reporting.

Provide technical expertise to the rest of the actuarial team in relation to large account pricing and pricing tool validation.

Contribute to the annual business planning process, as well as the parameterisation of underwriting risk.

Provide support to the wider Markel International Actuarial team.

Our must-haves:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Substantial experience of technical pricing, including case pricing large accounts and rating model development
  • Experience of portfolio management monitoring and development of associated metrics
  • Experience in the actuarial elements of business planning and parameterisation of underwriting risk, including interacting with other departments
  • Ability to manage and engage stakeholders and create effective relationships
  • Awareness of the latest market practice and developments in the field of technical pricing for wholesale business
  • Effective workload management
  • Contribution to the writing of the Actuarial Function Solvency II Opinion reports
