Pricing Actuary
About the Role
The role will be part of the L&H Re Southeast Asia (SEA) pricing team taking responsibility for product development and pricing of new Life & Health business to help the region achieve its ambitious growth plans. We aim to do this through better client experience, cutting-edge, better-informed pricing, and supporting development of innovative products for clients in the region.
We are a team of 10+ members currently based in Singapore and India. The role is a non-supervisory role with the individual supporting development of new products and the pricing of the business written across SEA in accordance with our technical guidelines.
Major Responsibilities
1. New Business Quotes and Tenders
- Lead and support the pricing and modelling of new business; this includes the review on quotes in South East Asia.
- Identify and understand clients' needs and concerns.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of experts from client markets, underwriting and claims towards assessing the risks associated with a particular opportunity.
2. Costing Methodology and Guidelines
- Review pricing guidelines and ensure their correct application.
- Able to challenge status-quo and look to simplify and improve existing practices.
- Keep up to date with market, regulatory and competitive trends.
- Work with Experience Studies team to gain insight into claims and lapse experience.
- Ensure pricing guidelines are kept up-to-date via research and experience studies.
3. Product Development and Brand Presence
- Contribute to technical, research and project management input for product development initiatives.
- Support the marketing of Swiss Re’s services by working closely with clients and external partners.
- Provide strategic inputs in the running of the Swiss Re business in South East Asia including implications of regulations, market and industry developments.
About You
- Qualified or close to qualify actuary (under a recognized actuarial body - SOA/CAS/IOA/FOA/FIA) with a bachelor's degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or equivalent.
- Insurance or reinsurance working experience (including consulting); life insurance pricing experience, particularly across the South East Asian markets is strongly desirable.
- Experience on medical reimbursement pricing is a plus.
- Can demonstrate both strong technical knowledge and communication skills; demonstration of maturity and flexibility at managing both internal and external stakeholders is a plus.
- Experience at using/developing pricing tools and programming language is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Additional Asian language skills such as Thai, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia or Bahasa Indonesia are desirable.
- Travelling within South East Asia will be required about 10% of the time.
