Munich Re Markets is a global business unit that develops and produces savings, retirement, and investment products. We manage our clients’ business targets with various corporate finance and risk management techniques, including structured reinsurance and hedging.
We are extending our capabilities in Europe and Asia and are looking for an experienced actuary with profound expertise in International Solvency Regulation (ICS). This role involves developing and advising on reinsurance structures and related transactions, optimizing cedants’ capital positions. It is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for someone with deep knowledge in Solvency II, IFRS accounting for life insurers, and financial mathematics.
Your Job:
- Supporting business structuring and execution efforts in Europe and developed Asian markets through creative problem-solving and analytical skills on accounting and regulatory implications.
- Integrating and collaborating with our global accounting and regulation team regarding IFRS ICS/Solvency II and local GAAP implications for our cedents.
- Bridging mathematical and actuarial aspects with accounting requirements.
- Developing reinsurance product concepts and structures with a focus on accounting and regulatory aspects.
- Advising multiple stakeholders on accounting and regulatory issues pertaining to transactions.
- Actively participating as a member of deal teams, working with local and global staff.
- Monitoring insurance accounting developments in focus countries and deriving conclusions for Munich Re Markets’ solutions landscape.
- Interfacing fluidly across the division’s origination, structuring, and trading functions.
- Preparing technical documentation to support new transactions.
Your Profile:
- University degree in mathematics, physics, or similar.
- Completed actuarial education.
- Experience in the insurance or reinsurance industries, employed with a consulting, auditing, insurance/reinsurance firm, or other financial institution.
- Deep understanding of Solvency II / ICS regulatory concepts and experience working with auditing firms and national insurance regulators.
- Good conceptual knowledge of IFRS accounting and local GAAP requirements in at least one target market.
- Familiarity with structured and non-traditional reinsurance solutions and financial derivatives.
- Independent, proactive, and a strong team player with a desire to contribute to a global team’s success.
- Intellectually curious, with excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Persuasive and credible, with the ability to initiate and maintain client interactions.
