Service Line Overview

KPMG Advisory's non-life actuarial team in Hong Kong helps insurers set and execute their strategy, in addition to providing advice in core actuarial areas of capital management and financial reporting. We get involved in business planning, market entry/exit transactions, and risk management projects, often working in cross-functional teams.

We use technology to maximize insights from and transform existing financial and regulatory reporting processes. We invite highly motivated, dynamic professionals to join our Actuarial practice where you will be provided with career development through an extensive support and mentoring network.

Successful candidates will play a significant role in offering a wide range of actuarial consultancy services in the insurance and financial services industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in actuarial audits and advisory work for our general insurance clients such as direct insurers, reinsurers, and captives.
  • Perform Certifying Actuary work such as reserve valuation and reviews, stress testing, capital adequacy analysis, and risk management assessments.
  • Participate in Merger & Acquisitions (M&A) and due diligence projects.
  • Build actuarial models to support decision making and analysis.
  • Advise clients on various insurance topics such as accounting and regulatory change, claims, pricing, or reserving process optimization, and market studies.
  • Support in business development initiatives such as preparing proposals and presentations.

Experience & Background

  • A minimum of 2-4 years relevant actuarial experience in non-life actuarial work.
  • Actuarial and risk management experience in general insurance firms is highly preferred.
  • Experience in IFRS 17 and/or HKRBC is a plus.
  • Good progress with the professional actuarial exams.
  • Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English and Chinese.
  • Self-starter with good analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to multi-task, be flexible, meet tight deadlines, and work under pressure.
