Product Innovation Actuary

About the Role

The position requires playing a vital role in identifying and building new product development opportunities in the Korean market, which is sustainable and profitable for both clients and the company.

In addition, the position entails offering actuarial support to the Korean Market's Life & Health ("L&H") team, producing accurate and professional actuarial work in line with Swiss Re corporate governance, best practice guidelines, and guiding principles.

Detailed Job Functions

  • Create new product ideas, materialize them by leading/supporting XFT work, and pitch the new products to the client.
  • Provide product development and pricing support, such as deriving risk rates, conducting reinsurance quotes, and developing terms of trade.
  • Research opportunities to expand the sales of current products and develop new lines, plus communication of such through seminars and client presentations.
  • Ensure actuarial best practice guidelines are followed and appropriate control cycles used.
  • Collation of information necessary for quotations and explanation of quotations (terms, etc.) to clients.
  • Establish and maintain a network of Swiss Re actuarial contacts to ensure that global best practice is followed and Swiss Re corporate governance and guiding principles adhered to.

About the Team

As part of the L&H Korea Team, the successful candidate will be both an individual and team contributor. The L&H pricing team of Korea currently consists of 5 professionals.

The team works closely with client managers, underwriting, and claims teams to support business development. As part of Swiss Re's Own the Way You Work policy, you are empowered to manage your own work patterns.

About You

  • 10+ years of experience in product development.
  • Possession of an actuarial qualification (UK FIA/FFA, US FSA, Korea IAK, or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a professional approach consistent with Swiss Re guiding principles.
  • Self-starter and ability to work well as part of a small team.
