About the Team
The L&H Modelling Centre of Excellence (MCoE) is a large global team responsible for creating and understanding the AXIS actuarial models and supporting tools relied on by hundreds of actuaries across all Swiss Re L&H Reinsurance locations. The modelling team focuses on creating consistent, intuitive, and highly efficient AXIS models and modelling tools for the entire L&H portfolio.
With a team size of approximately 50 based across three global continents, the MCoE works closely with stakeholders to understand their actuarial modelling needs. The team executes the end-to-end modelling and tool development process, including specifications, development, testing, governance, and maintenance. The MCoE is also involved in driving new technologies to use data insights and optimizing modelling processes by implementing innovative solutions to achieve automation and efficiency.
This role is a great opportunity for a strong actuarial student with a can-do attitude, an interest in actuarial models, and a desire to gain knowledge in the reinsurance industry. Swiss Re will provide the necessary training and support to help you grow and develop in the role, ensuring your success.
Core Responsibilities
- Work alongside AXIS developers and actuarial professionals to gain hands-on exposure to AXIS modelling.
- Learn and adopt modelling best practices with guidance from mentors.
- Assist in researching and exploring new tools and technologies to enhance the modeling process, with opportunities to learn and participate in their implementation.
- Support data gathering by learning and using SQL to extract, interpret, and present data, with appropriate training and oversight.
- Assist in the development of Power BI tools for data visualization and reporting to support actuarial analysis.
About You
- Currently pursuing your Bachelors in Actuarial Science.
- Exceptional academic performance (GPA of 3.0 and above; transcript submission required).
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members.
- Good quantitative aptitude β able to understand and comprehend actuarial concepts.
- Desire to learn from highly skilled industry professionals across multiple fields to grow your professional development.
- Excellent organizational skills - ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks accordingly.
