Home Portfolio Management Lead

What you’ll be doing

Our mission is to be a best-in-class function. To be the best of the best, we need exceptional people. Joining our Home P&U Team, who are responsible for setting the prices for home policies, you’ll utilise your previous experience leading a UK home portfolio to ensure we are best-in-class.

You will be leading on portfolio management of home products which includes:

  • Being responsible for monitoring our competitiveness and claims performance by customer segment to manage risk of adverse selection and find growth opportunities.
  • Monitoring market and claims trends to ensure risks and opportunities are reflected in pricing and underwriting action.
  • Reviewing our claims costs by rating factor and customer segment to ensure our risk costs for home policies are accurate.
  • Being responsible for underwriting footprint.
  • Closely monitoring portfolio performance and working to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborating with the Claims team on claims management, claims fraud, and alignment on emerging underwriting trends.
  • Working closely with the pricing and actuarial teams to ensure that home insurance products are priced appropriately and drive profitable growth through competitive footprint expansion via the use of data-centric solutions.
  • Ensuring all governance and controls are adhered to, taking accountability for the products compliance.
  • Leading, motivating, and inspiring both your direct reports and those within the wider P&U function through your breadth of knowledge and expertise.

What you’ll need

We are keen to meet enthusiastic, passionate, and curious individuals, and are open to hearing from those with specialisms in either pricing or underwriting. Key is your breadth of experience and understanding across both areas.

  • Previous experience within UK personal lines insurance, preferably Home.
  • Previously managed a portfolio on a segmental basis, with demonstrable experience of making pricing and footprint adjustments as needed and able to demonstrate their impact.
  • Experience utilising your technical and analytical underwriting skill and understanding of pricing as you’ll often work in partnership with your pricing colleagues.
  • Experience of underwriting, either through direct responsibility or alongside colleagues as part of portfolio management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical pricing with the ability to interpret predictive models for pricing and forecasting.
  • A commercial mentality with the ability to identify risks and opportunities across teams.
  • Ability to inspire and engage colleagues to do their best work every day, with a strong external network to bring in best practice and new concepts.
