Actuarial Analyst

About the Team

Part of the pricing & underwriting services team with around 80+ members between Actuarial and Underwriting teams located in Bangalore. This role will be supporting the Australia and New Zealand market (ANZ) for reinsurance pricing, actuarial and experience studies.

Objective of Role

To support the ANZ Pricing & ES team by providing technical expertise in respect of product pricing, experience studies, and other initiatives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work on Experience studies for the region including Income Protection and Lumpsum Product.
  • Assist peers in reporting of ES results for key treaties/benefits on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Work with the team to develop/steer new platform developments.
  • Work with the regional Pricing services team on new model development for ES.
  • Come up with ideas for automating and improving current processes.
  • Help peers to carry out a periodic validation of the ES codes to ensure adherence to best practices and to control code proliferation.
  • Support the ANZ pricing actuaries in any local/regional projects as required.
  • Support the pricing actuaries in pricing treaties for the ANZ market; responsibilities will focus on Open Treaty Reviews.

Key Skills & Knowledge

  • Completed bachelor's in mathematics/statistics.
  • Highly motivated towards actuarial qualification from a recognized institution (2-4 exams).
  • Programming skills in SAS/VBA/R/Python are preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written English skills to communicate results and hold discussions with stakeholders.
  • Ability and enthusiasm to work with various regional teams within and outside India.
  • Strong team player to support a high-performing team.
  • Ability to apply theory learned to practice in order to handle Experience Studies Modelling and Data Analytics.
  • Ability to apply actuarial judgment in a commercial environment.
  • Good understanding of actuarial standard methodologies.
  • Knowledge of actuarial L&H modelling and data analytical software: SAS and R.
  • Organization, prioritization, and planning skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
