Swiss Re is hiring an

Actuarial Reserving Intern (4-6 Months)

Are you a student or recent graduate? Do you have a technical background and are you looking for an excellent opportunity to acquire first job experience? Are you passionate about contributing to the success of a highly motivated, multi-cultural team of insurance specialists?

We are seeking a technical student with strong programming skills and an interest in (re)insurance to support the actuarial reserving team based in Zurich.

Duration of internship: 4-6 months, starting as soon as possible!

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Support the automation of process flows, mainly by developing program codes based on statistical software R and Microsoft Power BI
  • Support the team in quarterly estimation of P&C insurance portfolio reserves
  • Support the development and production of deep-dive analyses and statistics
  • Contribute to other ad hoc analyses and tasks to support the members of the team
  • Support the team in project works

About the Team

The Zurich actuarial reserving team consists of actuaries and data scientists with diverse cultural backgrounds. We value a good team and collaborative spirit. We frequently interact with many stakeholders from different functions. Therefore, we value strong communication skills on top of technical expertise.

About You

  • Student or recent graduate with a technical background such as mathematics, actuarial science, physics, or other quantitative subjects
  • Broad experience with developing program codes using R or Python
  • Experience with tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau (nice to have)
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Independent thinker who works well in a team setting
  • Fluent in English

Due to immigration regulations, non-EU/EFTA and UK citizens must provide a certificate from a Swiss university confirming that an internship is integral to their course of study. Kindly submit the mandatory letter from your University with your application documents.
