ALM Modelling Actuary (Structured Asset Solutions)
Job Description
A new position has arisen for an ALM Modelling Actuary within the Structured Asset Solutions team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating models to analyse financial risks arising from future and existing structured reinsurance transactions. You will also advise on the management of financial risks relating to Structured Asset Solutions and carry out internal education and training relating to Asset and Liability Management (ALM).
Responsibilities
This role is pivotal in implementing our newly defined core growth strategies for the Life Business Unit and delivering solutions across the globe. As one of the world’s largest reinsurers, SCOR’s size and diversification provides an excellent platform for this growth. In this role, you will:
- Be responsible for creating models to analyse financial risks arising from future and existing structured reinsurance transactions
- Advise on the management of financial risks relating to Structured Asset Solutions
Key duties and responsibilities
- Building and maintaining ALM models to measure and monitor financial risks
- Collaborating on pricing and structuring for Financial Solutions transactions
- Monitoring financial markets and their potential impact on in-force transactions
- Advising Group Treasury, Finance and other teams on hedging strategies as required
- Helping to produce marketing material for Financial Solutions
- Assisting internal stakeholders and senior management in transaction approval processes
- Contributing to the development of structured pricing models
- Peer-reviewing work as required
- Carrying out credit risk, solvency and financial strength analyses for counterparty credit appraisals
- Collaborating with other teams within SCOR as required
Qualifications
Required experience & competencies
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Business or Management)
- Actuarial, accounting or CFA qualification is preferred
- At least 5 years relevant experience in (re)insurance, financial services, consulting, banking or asset management
- Familiarity with the techniques and practice of ALM
- Working knowledge of liability-driven and/or cash-flow driven investment strategies
- Good understanding of accounting standards (IFRS17) and solvency regimes (Solvency II or RBC or ICS) would be an advantage
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Comfortable with a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
- Ability to learn new concepts quickly
- Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Experience of working with ALM models and market data
- Basic programming skills (Python, VBA or other)
