Actuarial Analyst (L&H)

Description

The Role

As a Life actuarial analyst in ICT, you will work as part of the South East Asia regional team on projects focused mainly on life insurance. You will be involved in a variety of projects including IFRS 17, pricing, reserve valuation, data science/analytics, RBC/ICAAP, and merger and acquisitions for our clients across South East Asia.

Many of the projects will involve using WTW’s market leading actuarial software and techniques to produce customised solutions for our clients.

Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing, analysing and explaining the results, and working closely with other analysts/consultants and the project lead/manager to ensure timely delivery of projects.
  • Supporting the project manager on drafting project plans, managing assigned workstreams, and ensuring the progress of the team against established objectives, budget, timeline, deliverables and quality standards. You will also support client communication and business development activities.
  • Working with consultants and project managers on a variety of insurance-related client projects which include, but are not limited to:
    • IFRS 17
    • Reserve valuation
    • Pricing
    • Data science and predictive analytics
    • Merger and acquisitions
    • Risk management and capital management
  • Developing actuarial models using WTW’s market leading actuarial software and techniques to produce customised solutions for our clients.

  • Meet billable hours targets.
  • Manage project budget efficiently.
  • Contribute to sales activities by assisting on proposals, demos, presentations and pitches.

Qualifications

The Requirements

  • Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or any other related quantitative fields.
  • Fresh graduates and experienced hires with up to 4 years of relevant experience in general insurance or consulting/regional roles. More experienced candidates may be considered for the senior actuarial analyst position.
  • Good progress with actuarial exams from recognised International Actuarial Bodies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, especially in presentation and report writing.
  • Self-driven achiever, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Good time management skills, able to manage multiple concurrent projects efficiently.
  • Basic understanding of the insurance landscape, IFRS 17, reserving, M&A and/or pricing.
  • Familiarity with WTW’s actuarial modelling software is a plus.
