Senior IFRS Actuarial Analyst (Hybrid)

About the Role

Global Finance Operations & Transformation (GFO&T) IGR & external retro team is looking for a motivated individual to support the production and validation of the L&H intra group and external retros in the IFRS financial closing for both group and local entities, as well as for the Swiss Solvency Test (SST) and the Asset Liability Management Process.

You will contribute to the success of this key process within the Finance department and interact with the delegated authorities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the seamless quarterly production of financial statements for IGR and external retrocession with a focus on IFRS 9 and 17.
  • Validating and analyzing produced figures and serving as main point of contact for inquiries on the financial results of internal and external retrocession.
  • Continuously improving processes related to IGR and external retrocession to enhance efficiency and accuracy, for example by exploring the possibilities of applying new technologies.
  • Ensure integrity, accuracy and completeness of the system data.
  • Supporting various initiatives and projects related to the financial reporting landscape.
  • Assist in preparing audit documentation and evidence, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial results.

About the Team

Global Finance Operations & Transformation (GFO&T) is the unit responsible for the accounting and reporting of accurate and consistent financial information for Swiss Re for external reporting and internal analysis facilitating strategic decision-making. This includes IFRS for Group as well as statutory financial information for all Swiss Re legal entities, including SST and Solvency II.

GFO&T spearheads the transformation of Global Finance, streamlining it towards a simpler, more effective forward-looking organization.

About You

You have excellent analytical skills with holistic financial thinking and are able to interpret financial data. You demonstrate strong personal accountability and are competent to work a flexible schedule and deliver under time pressure.

You possess the ability to perform tasks with support and a degree of autonomy, but also collaborate with all partners to deliver on clearly attributed goals and objectives.

Your profile:

  • Qualified/part-qualified Actuary with good progress made towards qualification (study package provided), with a minimum of 5 years of experience in L&H re/insurance.
  • Knowledge of quarterly accounting and closing processes with sound understanding of financial statements.
  • Knowledge of international accounting standard IFRS is an advantage.
  • Willingness to acquire system and technical knowledge.
  • Flexible and stress resilient – capable of managing own workload and providing flexibility during peak periods.
  • Curious, open-minded, passionate self-starter who takes initiatives.
  • Teamwork - able to build working relationships across technical fields and work effectively across the L&H value chain.
  • Proactive and able to demonstrate keen enthusiasm in learning and developing existing knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills, including being capable of presenting results to/discussing results with internal interested parties and senior partners.
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral, is a must.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience in technical accounting is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of other international/local accounting standards (US GAAP, SCO, Swiss GAAP FER).
