Our Actuaries are on the front lines, quantifying risk, pricing insurance, and reserving losses for AIG’s major insurance operating companies globally. We collaborate with Finance, Claims, Operations, Marketing, and Risk Management, among other functions. How you will create an impact

The AIG Actuarial team is made up of Reserving and Pricing Actuaries. Reserving Actuaries quantify reserving losses for AIG’s major regulated and rated insurance operating companies. Portfolio Analytics and Pricing Actuaries support AIG’s businesses and are responsible for technical pricing, product development analytics, and performance measurement in collaboration with Underwriters, Distribution, Operations, and Financial Management.

The successful candidate will support the Australian Appointed Actuary as well as local pricing Actuaries. The candidate will be a member of the wider APAC actuarial team and may be tasked with providing actuarial advice to the business functions including profit centres, underwriting, finance, and risk management.

Key accountabilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of US GAAP quarterly management results and local GAAP quarterly reserving and solvency estimates for local regulatory reporting for Australia.
  • Preparation of annual Detailed Valuation Reviews, Insurance Liability Valuation Report, and Financial Condition / Stress Testing Report.
  • Assist with implementation of IFRS 17 reporting requirements.
  • Preparation of quarterly Board and Risk committee reporting.
  • Review of capital targets and investment strategies including ALM.
  • Provide support to the budget loss ratio exercise and annual financial planning.
  • Assist in supporting strategic portfolio reviews and deep dive analyses of certain business segments.
  • Use strong statistical and actuarial skills to analyze business segments, identify key profit/performance drivers, and recommend actionable insights to drive improved performance and profit.
  • Individual large account pricing.
  • Assist in other ad-hoc analyses as required.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative degrees; (transcripts may be required at interview stage).
  • At least 2 years’ general insurance experience.
  • Proficiency in actuarial reserving concepts/methodologies and ability to educate non-technical managers on technical areas that enhance their decision-making ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize own work.
  • Effective project & time management and strong communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to forge relationships with other areas of the business.
  • Professional behavior with a high level of integrity.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Knowledge of SQL, SAS, and VBA.
