Senior Actuarial Expert P&C (Reinsurance)

Job Purpose/Role

We are looking for a Senior Analyst to join our Actuarial Processes team at Allianz Re, the Allianz Group’s global “in-house” reinsurance company based in Munich, Germany.

Reporting to the Head of Actuarial Processes, you would be part of a small, friendly and professional team, fully integrated with all aspects of the quarterly and annual reporting processes with a focus on IFRS disclosures.

You will take over a senior role for running, developing, and improving the data landscape of our core actuarial processes and for supporting our interfaces to business, data management, and IT at Allianz SE Re.

You will bring together the reserving tool ResQ, the workflow manager, statistical software such as SAS, and databases based on SQL and Oracle into one coherent picture which will boost our actuarial closing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the P&C reserving exercises on IFRS 17 and Solvency II basis for a global reinsurance company.
  • Focus on all aspects of data handling, including data preparation and execution, as well as process improvements and tool developments.
  • Act as first contact person for colleagues from several different departments and IT within the organization to continuously improve the actuarial data processes.
  • Explore and drive the development of new ways and tools that support the actuarial analyses and closing processes.
  • Ensure completeness and high quality of internal controls and documentation.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field with a focus on databases and process flows.
  • Programming (R/Python/SAS) and database handling (SQL/Oracle) experience is key.
  • Understanding of Finance and/or Actuarial science is an advantage.
  • Strong MS Excel skills including advanced functionalities (VBA, PowerQuery) are an advantage.
  • Strong command of written and spoken English is required; German is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Qualified actuary of a recognized actuarial society (DAV, IFoA, etc.).
  • University degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related quantitative field.
  • Fluency in English speaking and writing; German is a plus.

Experience & Key Skills

  • Several years (>6) of experience in data processing, preferably with a relation to Finance.
  • Experience with designing reports for senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with colleagues across several disciplines.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently with attention to detail as well as the ability to apply high-level judgement.
  • Self-directed and well-organized.
  • Pro-active working attitude and willingness to work under time pressure.
  • Ability to work in an international and multi-cultural environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and open-minded person who sees challenges as opportunities.
