Actuarial Associate

We are looking for a passionate business-oriented risk professional to support our actuarial team and clients in delivering key risk insights to help them make informed data-driven business decisions.

As part of Aon's professional services actuarial team, you will engage directly with clients and stakeholders in presenting risk modelling results and analysis to help clients achieve their business objectives.

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from any of our Canadian offices.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada. This role is not eligible for sponsorship.

What the day will look like

  • Communicate with global clients, both internal and external to Aon; and be prepared to lead technical discussions in client meetings.
  • Develop industry and firm-specific loss profiles for professional services firms, including the modelling of severity and frequency distributions.
  • Manage the review and analysis of individual firm and general industry assumptions used in determining loss profiles for professional services firms.
  • Run frequency/severity Monte Carlo simulation models to arrive at actuarial funding/pricing requirements.
  • Support brokers by forecasting expected premium, including a review of program structure and proposed reinsurance arrangements.
  • Run simulation models to arrive at stochastic reserving estimates.
  • Manage and prepare premium funding and reserving reports for client captives.
  • Manage, develop and refine financial modelling tools.
  • Provide coaching/mentorship, personnel management, and peer review for analysts on the team.

This is a unique position within the actuarial team residing in Aon Risk Solutions’ Professional Services Practice. We work in conjunction with the client service teams to deliver actuarial services to our clients, delivering high-quality work in a supportive team environment.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a P&C actuarial role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience as an effective team player.
  • Demonstrated competency for attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks and prioritize work.
  • Prior management experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience with VBA, R and/or @Risk is considered an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or a similar relevant discipline.
  • Progression of CAS actuarial exams towards ACAS/FCAS designations.
  • French / English bilingualism preferred due to frequent interactions with clients and colleagues.
