Recruiting for this role ends on 2/5/25.Work you'll doAs a Deloitte Consulting Health Actuary Manager in the Insurance practice of Deloitte's Human Capital group, you will assist Deloitte Managers, Senior Managers, and Partners in providing strategic and technical consulting services to health plans, providers, Federal and State governments, and PBMs.At Deloitte, you can be a part of the transformation of the health care sector. Deloitte's health actuaries are participating in the development of evidence-based medicine and the transition of payments from paying for what is done to paying for the value provided.These types of problems require actuaries who are not only technically strong but also can be innovative, capable of addressing ill-defined, complex problems, and have a business orientation.Other responsibilities include:<ul><li>Lead a team creating a model to value the impact of health care reform on a health plan client</li><li>Review trend forecasting and predictive modeling tools</li><li>Assist clients to define underwriting policies to reduce selection</li><li>Price alternative plan designs and define product strategy</li><li>Identify strategies to reduce enterprise costs</li><li>Review reserves in support of Deloitte & Touche audits of health care liabilities</li><li>Communicate ROI for medical management and other health plan initiatives to senior level clients and Deloitte leadership</li><li>Prepare and present client presentations and reports</li><li>Conduct other Manager level health actuarial consulting activities, as required</li></ul>The teamActuarial & Insurance SolutionsDeloitte's Actuarial & Insurance Solutions practice works with finance, actuarial, and risk functions to help life insurance companies, property & casualty insurance companies, health plans, and healthcare providers modernize their operations and manage actuarial costs and risks.This involves helping our clients move from where they are today to where they need to be in the future. We are recognized as a leader in providing comprehensive, high-quality actuarial consulting, advanced analytics, and risk management services to our clients.QualificationsRequired:<ul><li>Bachelor's degree</li><li>6+ years of Health Actuary experience</li><li>Successfully passed 5 actuarial exams</li><li>Limited immigration sponsorship may be available</li><li>Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve</li></ul>Preferred:<ul><li>6+ years of consulting and/or health plan/insurance company experience</li><li>Experience managing staff and leading medium to large sized teams</li><li>ASA with progression to FSA, FSA, or career ASA designation</li><li>Experience with one or more of the following areas:</li><li>Product design and/or product strategy</li><li>Reimbursement models - including value-based care/ACO modeling</li><li>Risk adjustment mechanisms</li><li>Familiarity with group insurance products including disability, long term care, etc.</li><li>Merger and Acquisition experience</li><li>Health care reform with working knowledge of the individual medical and small group markets and/or state Medicaid programs</li><li>Strong client presence with project management, presentation, and facilitation skills</li><li>Ability to succeed in team-based or independent environments</li><li>Well-organized with the ability to handle several projects/clients simultaneously</li><li>Strong oral and written communication skills</li><li>Ability to create and manage client relationships and develop business</li><li>Dedicated work ethic with a commitment to client service excellence</li></ul>
